REFCOM

Most air conditioning systems contain a refrigerant gas and, since July 2005, refrigerants have been classified as hazardous waste under the Hazardous Waste (England and Wales) Regulations.
Also, since the introduction of the F-Gas Regulations in June 2006, it is now a mandatory requirement for all end users of equipment containing refrigerants to ensure the minimisation of leaks.
EMS Ltd is a member of REFCOM. Membership is open to refrigeration or air conditioning contractors who install, commission or maintain a system containing refrigerants.
As members of REFCOM we have undergone independent inspection to confirm that:
- we are registered as carriers of hazardous waste
- we possess recognised certification in competency to handle refrigerants
- we conform with all current legal requirements
- we operate auditable procedures for the proper control of refrigerants.
- we use appropriate, purpose-designed refrigerant recovery equipment
- we can account for all refrigerant used and recovered
- we are environmentally aware and perform refrigerant transactions with minimum emissions.
