Air Source Heat Pumps
Using air conditioning as the primary source of heating during winter months is an increasingly popular option for many businesses. Most air conditioning systems have the capability, by reversing the refrigerant cycle of providing warm air heating – such systems are commonly referred to as heat pumps.
The main advantage of using a heat pump is its efficiency. Good quality equipment has, typically, an EER (Energy Efficient Ratio) of 3.5 to 4.0. This means that for every kW of input power, 3.5 to 4.0 kW of heat is produced.
Heat pumps, therefore, provide a much more energy efficient method of heating than conventional gas or electric systems. And, when there is a demand for summer cooling, the system automatically reverts to cooling mode. |
