Heat Recovery Ventilation

There are occasions when mechanical cooling is not appropriate, and when ventilation only is sufficient to provide a comfortable working environment. Where this cannot be achieved through natural ventilation, it is possible to install a mechanical ventilation system.

Introducing fresh air increases the internal temperature in summer, and also adds to the heating demand in winter. Therefore, to minimise this impact, it is advisable to install a heat recovery ventilation system.

Such systems incorporate within the air handling equipment a heat exchanger, over which the fresh air is drawn, and which picks up the heat from (in winter) or rejects the heat from (in summer) in order to extract air.

The system therefore provides fresh air to the office personnel, but minimises the impact on the cooling/heating load.

Equipment can also incorporate mechanical heating and/or cooling to provide a complete packaged solution.
