November 2008

EMS welcomed back an old friend last month – Jeff Scourfield. Jeff is responsible for reaching out to new clients and helping me reach potential clients and provide information regarding EMS and our services. It’s lovely to have him back and I think we’re making quite a good team!
The Case Study Booklet has now been collated. It is a booklet which consists of some of the works that EMS has carried out over the years. If anyone would like a copy and are interested in our capabilities then please contact me and I will get one sent out to you.
I’ve been in liaison with Simon Easterby who plays rugby for Ireland! EMS is going to be appearing in his testimonial. I’m still hoping for a visit from him and some of his team mates but haven’t had much luck regarding this so far. Wish me luck because I’m going to keep trying!
I’m also going to be looking at giving our website a bit of makeover. If you have any suggestions as to what would make it easier to use or what you would like to see on here then please let me know.
As Christmas draws closer I have organised our Christmas Party. This has now been booked and we’re looking forward to a fab bash at a local bar/restaurant in Hereford. Look out Hereford EMS are on the loose!
I’ve ordered the Christmas cards and EMS Mouse mats. These are a little gift to our existing customers, that way every day they can be reminded of us!
So next on the Christmas list is to decorate the office, now that’s always the most fun part isn’t it. I might even suggest a secret Santa. I’m really getting in the spirit this year!

October 2008

I’ve had a busy month in October! My job role is fully established and I don’t think I’ve stopped.

This month EMS became members of the Chambers of Commerce which was good news so I’m compiling a newsletter to be included in the Chambers of Commerce New Direction Magazine. I’m hoping to reach new clients and inform everyone who reads it what EMS are about. I also attended the Chambers of Commerce Conference last week regarding the Hereford Edgar Street Grid. It was very interesting and Hereford is in for some big changes, I’m hoping that EMS can be part of it. It also means more shopping so that can only be a positive thing!

Still awaiting the case study I told you about last month that Paul was going to write regarding the Air Cone Flow Hood, so I will chase him up on that. I’m compiling a brochure full of case studies of contracts that EMS has carried out to give to our new clients. I think it’s a great idea because there are contracts in there that cover all aspects of works carried out regarding air conditioning, so new or potential clients will hopefully be able to refer to it and gauge approximately how much the works may cost, how long it will take and what is involved.

I’ve been looking at EMS being a contractor for 2012 Olympics in London. I think that it would be an amazing event to be part of and something that would make front page news in my quarterly newsletter!

Christmas is approaching and I have been sorting out our Christmas cards and more importantly our Christmas meal/party. I’m really looking forward to it and have heard stories from previous years so I know I’m in for a good time!

September 2008

I’ve been at EMS for three months now and I’m finding air conditioning more and more interesting by the day…

Yesterday my boss took me to a site where EMS holds their maintenance contract. We took some photos of EMS’s Air Cone Flow Hood for the website. This is basically a device to commission and balance the air flow volume in a particular room. It looks a bit like a wind vane, however it’s held up-right under grilles, diffusers, air valves and linears. It measures how much air is being distributed per m3 per second – looks a very simple device but does a very technical job! I was very impressed with it and my photography skills really came into play!

Paul will be writing an article soon regarding this, containing the photos that we took so keep an eye out for it. It will inform you of the benefits of having this device at EMS and the cost savings it can make to the end user (the customer).

Last month I informed you that I was writing a bulletin regarding R22 and how now is the time for end users to be considering changing their systems or just getting advice of what the first step is that they should be taking. This has now been completed and I am in the process of forwarding this out to new and existing clients. If you would like a copy then please contact me on 01432 340 800.

Not much else to report this month that I think will be of interest to you, that doesn’t mean that my work flow has been slow I hasten to add! See you next month.

August 2008

I’m slowly finding my feet at EMS and coming to terms with air conditioning as a whole. In the last couple of weeks I have seen two major contracts being granted to EMS. One for maintenance at a large hospital and one for building a cold store for an organic food wholesaler.

At the moment I’m working on composing a bulletin that I can send out to potential and existing customers. I’m trying to make them aware that R22 which is a HCFC – hydrochloroflourocarbon (which depletes the ozone layer) and which is used in older air conditioning units is being phased out and that it is the responsibility of the END USER to have this replaced. This may mean having a new air conditioning unit fitted but EMS will proceed to try to save the customer money in any way we think that we can. After 1st January 2010 all virgin HCFCs will be banned and then as of 1st January 2015 all HCFC’s will be banned for servicing and maintaining existing systems. That isn’t too far away! I’m trying to make customers aware so that they don’t get caught out. There are so many other routes you can take and have systems that are far more energy efficient than the systems that you may have in place at the moment. I’m trying to get my mind around all the options so that I can offer the best advice.

I am also looking at finding EMS an office in Wales. Although we do carry out work in Wales, I am looking at locating offices there for extra convenience. So as soon as this is complete I will let you know the details.

July 2008

Welcome to my Blog‼

Well it's day 15 in the life of Louise at EMS – Environmental Management Services Ltd. I’ve recently joined the company on the 2nd of June 2008 as their Sales and Marketing Administrator and if I’m honest I didn’t have any knowledge regarding air conditioning before I joined! So hopefully I will learn the ropes and the in’s and out’s fairly quickly, and then I will pass this on to you! I’m sure my technical terminology will also improve!

Before I joined EMS I thought that they were a fairly small company (as I mentioned to one of the directors in my first week!) But boy was I wrong, I have seen the sort of clients that they attract, what they have achieved and what they are capable of,  and generally they have managed to do this through clients seeking them out, not the other way around. I guess my aim is to boost their profile even more and ensure that potential customers realise and are aware that EMS is the way forward with regards to air conditioning (and heating!). I did learn the other day that the air conditioning units are a fantastic way of heating and the most cost effective way too! Well who would’ve thought!

Anyway this was just a quick introduction, so like I said I will keep you posted with regards to my progress but more importantly I will keep you posted with the progress that EMS are making!
