We were approached by this Department Store in Hereford to tender for the routine maintenance of its air conditioning systems, which comprised 50 split systems of various capacities over 4 Floors.
Our pre-tender survey identified an apparent lack of regular maintenance and, upon querying this, established that the existing provider did not actually service the indoor units due to the relative difficulty in accessing them during shop opening hours.
The number of breakdowns was, therefore, high – the cost equating to twice that of the routine maintenance charge.
We submitted a proposal based on all systems being serviced twice per year, but the indoor units being done outside shop opening times to prevent disruption.
Our routine maintenance price was higher than what they were paying, but we offered guarantees that their overall annual spend would be reduced, due to the expected fall in breakdown costs.
This client subsequently benefited from the predicted reduced costs, and has now signed their maintenance contract for the sixth year in succession.
