R22 Phase-out
Refrigerant R22 is an ozone depleting HCFC gas, which in line with environmental legislation is being phased out.
At the end of 2009 it became illegal to use new R22 gas to service systems.
It is important that you have a plan for phasing out this equipment. Your plan could be to do nothing until you are forced into it due to R22 components becoming unavailable. Or it could be to replace everything now on the basis that by installing new plant you will start saving energy costs.
We provide our commercial and industrial clients with a recommended plan to manage this phase out. We survey the plant, judge its condition and life expectancy, consider its criticality in terms of the business, calculate the running and maintenance costs compared with new plant – and then make recommendations based on our experience.
