Evaporative Cooling
In modern well insulated factory and warehouse buildings there can be an excessive build-up of heat at high level, sometimes more than can be removed by mechanical ventilation alone. As this heat builds up, it can create uncomfortably hot conditions at working level, and also unacceptably high temperatures for storage.
Traditional refrigeration based air conditioning is not the solution to this problem, because it is too expensive in terms of capital cost and running cost, plus it relies on a well sealed environment which is not practical for such areas.
The solution to this problem can be found with evaporative cooling.
Evaporative cooling is the solution because:
- it is significantly less expensive than air conditioning (typically 20% of the cost)
- it is significantly cheaper to run (typically 10% of air conditioning running costs)
- it introduces fresh air, so improves indoor air quality
- it does not reduce indoor relative humidity to unacceptably low levels
- its installation qualifies for Carbon Trust loans, due to its high energy efficiency and low carbon footprint.
