Legislation and Compliance is crucial in our world as Air conditioning systems are subject to an increasing number of regulations which put additional pressure on your business.
If you choose EMS as your Maintenance Service Provider, then you can be assured that we will keep you abreast of ongoing legislative issues and provide you with everything you need to ensure that you are compliant.
The issues you currently need to be aware of are: –
This covers the phase-out of HCFC’s, including the refrigerant R22. As from 1st January 2015 this has become obsolete. If you still have systems operating with this refrigerant, then we can provide you with advice on the best strategy for either replacing the equipment, or refurbishing it with a drop-in alternative refrigerant.
This covers HFC refrigerants, current replacements to R22, – e.g. R407c, R134a, R410a etc – which are referred to as F Gases, and are subject to legislation designed to minimise the risk of leakage from equipment.
You are legally obliged to maintain an F-Gas Register and use a company accredited to handle such refrigerants for the servicing of your equipment. EMS has such accreditation, and as part of our service, we maintain your F-Gas Register on your behalf.
Air Conditioning Inspections
As part of the EPB (Energy Performance of Buildings) Regulations, air conditioning systems must now be regularly inspected by an accredited Energy Assessor.
The Inspection Report comprises a visual inspection of the equipment – its design, controls set-up and maintenance – and a written comment on recommendations as to how the operator might improve its efficiency.
EMS employs an accredited Energy Assessor, and can advise you on what steps are required to ensure your compliance with these Regulations.

What our customers are saying about us:
“I would just like to say how impressed we were with EMS during work recently carried out. Brett Reardon was exceptional in the way he carried out his work and explained everything to us. I have just raised a PO for works to be done which were recommended by John Scott, again good clear explanations on why it’s required.”
